Industrialised Construction

Our 5th EESBN event welcomed Paul Inch, Strata Consultancy, as our guest speaker. He shared a valuable presentation about one of the biggest challenges we’re facing, how do we hit our carbon reduction targets while meeting the tough new requirements of the Building Safety Act?

Some of the key points included:

The reality is that all buildings now face much stricter compliance rules, and clients are having to take a completely different approach to managing safety risks throughout a building’s entire life. Even low-rise housing projects need rock-solid evidence of compliance.

Paul shared some fascinating case studies, both the success stories and the ones that didn’t go so well, from fire safety to carbon reduction.

There was also interesting discussion about the government’s shift from MMC to “Industrialised Construction” and how this could help tackle the skills shortages we’re all struggling with in different regions.

We looked at practical solutions like the “golden thread” of information and the Open Source Kit of Parts, which shows that making buildings safer doesn’t have to break the bank.

About EESBN

The East of England Sustainable Building Network is a bi-monthly networking and learning opportunity. It aims to bring together construction industry and sustainability professionals.

It provides a platform for discussions, sharing knowledge and learning ways to increase sustainability in the built environment. The event also provides networking opportunities over breakfast, tea and coffee. It aims to drive sustainability in construction, aligning with the UK’s goals for Net Zero Carbon by 2050.

For each event, we invite different guest speakers to share their perspectives and insights on sustainability through presentations, panel discussions, or Q&A sessions. If you’re interested in being a speaker at a future event or have any queries, please get in touch with Lilly Clarke – lclarke@cannonclarke.co.uk.
