Grade II Listed Hotel Architects
We are pleased to be appointed as Grade II listed hotel architects for a series of alterations to the Bentley showroom garage at the Maids Head Hotel in Norwich. The hotel is a landmark Grade II listed building that has evolved over centuries. The works are designed to enhance the guest experience, improve functionality and respect the significance of the heritage asset.
The proposals include the conversion of part of the existing Bentley Showroom garage to form a new gym and fitness suite. This addresses the hotel’s current lack of wellness facilities. The gym will be a division of the Bentley showroom, separated by a one-way glass screen. Therefore, allowing privacy for gym users while maintaining a view of the luxury car display from inside. The design includes fully obscured glazed walls either side, ensuring a secure and discreet environment
To support the hotel’s exclusive guest driving experience, an extension to the garage will provide space for the display and secure storage of a third Bentley. A new folding glass door will provide controlled access for vehicles. Additionally, an enclosed bin store will replace the existing exposed refuse area currently visible to guests. These alterations will improve the setting and appearance of the courtyard.
All elements of the proposal are located on the ground floor beneath existing hotel accommodation. They have been carefully considered to enhance the function, aesthetics, and operational quality of the hotel, while preserving the building’s historic fabric and character.
