Bromley Residential Conversion Project Completion
Cannon Clarke Group were pleased to attend the official opening of the Y Buildings in Bromley, one of our residential conversion projects. The project has transformed two former office buildings into 72 one-bedroom apartments. The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Christine Harris, officially opened the development on 20 August 2026. Cannon Clarke Group Director Jon Brent attended the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Working with Caridon Property Services, we provided design development and technical design services for the conversion of Ann Springman Hall and Joseph Lancaster Hall.
Bromley residential conversion returned buildings to their original use
Ann Springman Hall and Joseph Lancaster Hall were originally built in the 1960s as halls of residence for Stockwell College. The buildings later became offices before their latest conversion returned them to their original residential purpose.
At the opening, the Mayor spoke about the history of the buildings. Bromley Council was particularly pleased to see the former offices providing homes once again. The completed development now provides much-needed social housing for Bromley residents. The London Borough of Bromley has secured a long-term lease of the buildings to provide homes for local people. This includes some residents who had previously been placed outside the borough because suitable housing was unavailable locally.
Converting two former office buildings into 72 apartments
The two existing three-storey buildings sit within the Civic Centre parkland, close to the Listed Bishop’s Palace. The Bromley residential conversion has created 72 one-bedroom apartments while making effective use of the existing buildings and established site.
Our work included refining the original design and developing the technical design. We also secured further planning consent for elevational changes and helped ensure the apartments met Nationally Described Space Standards.
The project shows how existing office buildings can support new residential use and help meet local housing needs.

Celebrating the completed development
The ribbon cutting gave us the opportunity to see the completed scheme and celebrate its opening with the wider project team. We would like to thank our client, Caridon Developments, and particularly Mario Carrozzo, Abbas Alidina and Mazarul Islam for their commission and hospitality at the event.
The completed residential conversion gives Ann Springman Hall and Joseph Lancaster Hall a new chapter. The scheme has returned the buildings to residential use while providing 72 new homes for the borough.
