UK Sustainable Building Network – New Website
The UK Sustainable Building Network now has its own dedicated website, creating a central platform for professionals and businesses interested in sustainability across the built environment.
UKSBN has developed from the East of England Sustainable Building Network, which runs regular events in Norwich. These bring together professionals from across construction, property and sustainability. As the wider network continues to grow, the new website provides it with a dedicated home. It also makes it easier to access events, industry information, sustainable businesses and opportunities to get involved.
A platform for sustainable construction resources and connections
The UKSBN website offers more than an events platform. It brings together resources, businesses, news and opportunities for people working across the built environment. Through these resources, professionals can share knowledge, make connections and support more sustainable approaches to construction and development.
Through the website, visitors can:
- Find sustainable businesses, practices and supply chain contacts through the UKSBN Member Directory.
- Read industry-relevant news and updates covering sustainability, construction, planning, policy and the wider built environment.
- Keep up to date with UKSBN events, including upcoming events and information from previous sessions.
- Learn more about UKSBN, its aims, regional networks and how the initiative is developing.
- Join the UKSBN mailing list to receive event announcements, news and network updates.
- Explore membership opportunities and position your business as part of a professional network focused on sustainability.
- Get involved with events, including opportunities to speak, contribute expertise or support future sessions.
- Help bring UKSBN to other regions by supporting the development of new regional networks.
Connecting the sustainable built environment
UKSBN aims to bring together the different organisations and disciplines involved in creating, delivering and managing the built environment.
The East of England Sustainable Building Network has already welcomed architects, planners, engineers and contractors to its bi-monthly events. Attendees also include developers, ecologists, local authorities, consultants and other construction professionals.
Sessions combine networking with presentations, discussion and Q&A. This gives speakers an opportunity to share practical experience and encourages conversations between different parts of the industry. Previous events have explored Biodiversity Net Gain, retrofit, sustainable materials and ecology. They have also covered other issues influencing how buildings and places are designed, constructed and managed.
The new website allows these conversations and connections to continue beyond individual events. At the same time, it provides a platform that can grow alongside UKSBN.
Supporting a more sustainable built environment
UKSBN supports knowledge sharing and collaboration across the construction industry as the UK works towards its Net Zero Carbon 2050 goals.
Achieving that transition will require input from across the built environment. This includes those setting strategy and designing projects, as well as businesses supplying materials and delivering construction. Building owners, operators and other professionals managing buildings in use also have an important role.
By bringing these organisations together, UKSBN aims to make relevant expertise easier to find. It can also help people discover more sustainable products and services, learn from current projects and follow industry developments. In turn, this can support new professional connections and greater collaboration across the sector.
Opportunities to get involved
There are several ways for individuals and organisations to become involved with the network.
Businesses can join UKSBN as members and gain greater visibility within the network. Members also receive a presence in the UKSBN Member Directory. This can help organisations showcase their sustainability credentials and connect with other professionals and businesses. In addition, it can increase visibility among potential clients and collaborators while supporting the continued development of UKSBN.
There are also opportunities to speak at UKSBN events, contribute knowledge and case studies, join the mailing list or attend regional events. Alternatively, organisations can support the establishment of UKSBN activity in other parts of the UK.
