What Lies Beneath?

Cannon Clarke Architects have obtained planning consent for a 750 sqm sub-terranean spa complex for one of our residential clients in rural Essex.

The underground spa is the fifth phase of the residential development, with the main house, above-ground pool house/gym, orangery, and garage already secured in planning.

The spa encompasses a 17.5m long, 2-lane swimming pool, 4 car-space garage, home cinema, wine room, sauna, and steam room.

The design has been such as to achieve a minimum impact on landscaping, utilising cut and fill and the existing site gradients.

The design’s external manifestation is subtle, being limited to a rustic stone retaining wall with 3 glazed arches that open onto a sun terrace area.
